Work with one of Chicago's finest on-camera actors, Mickey O'Sullivan, as he walks you through the meat and potatoes of acting for the camera. This six-week class pushes actors, getting you in front of the lens every week.

Being comfortable and relaxed when the camera is rolling is paramount.

Voice is one of the most important tools you can use to harness your energy.

Explore the different ways you can achieve a contrasting take that is right for the character, the project, and even the frame. You’ll work this week with a 1-2 page scene or 45 second monologue and use the text, circumstances and project information to differentiate the takes.

Break down the co-star, guest-star, and regular responsibilities. Students explore the nuances of analyzing episodic scripts during the audition stage. Practicing building consistency in character portrayals, and adapting to the faster pace of TV production while remaining calm and making choices that give the actor agency on set.

We will examine both supporting and leading roles and the differences between Big blockbuster studio films and shoestring indies.

Tackle the challenges of acting in HIGH STAKES, MONSTER, POSSESSION, EMOTIONAL 10/10 scenes, from drama to comedy to thriller. Portray heightened emotions and navigate high-stakes situations, while maintaining credibility and connecting with their audience.
Who is Mickey O'Sullivan?
Born to hardworking Irish parents in New York, NY, raised in Chicago, and now working around the world. Mickey O’Sullivan began his acting career before he could remember, portraying "Adam Hughes" as a baby in the iconic soap opera "As the World Turns". From there Mick went on Life Hiatus until he was 18. Since then he has compiled an incredible array of credits on stage, screen and on the web.
TV - Guest Star, Recurring and Co-Star Credits on TV shows like NBC's Chicago PD, Fox's "Empire" and "APB", and Showtimes "The Chi".
Film - Consistently working in lead and supporting roles on Studio and Independent films around the world like Je-Kyu Kang's South Korean Drama "Road to Boston", Rupert Wyatt's SciFi thriller "Captive State", and Vinco Creative's Indie Thriller "NightShift".
Commercially, Mickey has found a healthy happy career playing a broad range of types for various brands both big and small.
O’Sullivan has studied at Illinois State University, Michael Howard Studios, UCB NYC, Chicago Shakespeare, Vagabond School of the Arts, Accomplished On Camera, The Forge, Second City Chicago, The Annoyance, & Lesley Kahn and Co.
