Service Description

Camera Foundations is a Tier 1 Course. This class provides students with the fundamentals for on-camera acting and auditioning. Students will gain experience with self-tapes, watching their own auditions and receiving feedback in real time. Over these four weeks, actors will learn framing, character development, finding their 'types', and gaining a deeper understanding of on-camera audition genres. This is a perfect option for recent graduates, beginning actors starting their journey into TV/Film, and actors looking for a refresher in on-camera technique. Each week consists of a short Q&A section where students can ask any and all questions. Week One This week will consist of an introduction to on-camera acting and auditions. Students will learn a breakdown of basics like framing and lighting for self-tape auditions and in-person auditions. Students will be asked prior to the start of the session to have a previous audition prepared for this week to perform and receive feedback. Week Two Students will bring in assigned material from the previous week to perform. The focus will be on character depth with longer on-camera scene work. Week Three Students will have been tasked with submitting their own self-tape to watch during this week's class and receive feedback. The focus will be putting together learned skills from the previous two weeks. Week Four Students will have self-selected material provided by the instructor prepared for a mock audition. Each student's audition will be taped and replayed for the class to discuss. Who is Jackie Seijo? Jackie (he/they) is a film actor, Jeff-Nominated theatre actor, and teaching artist.
