Service Description

Tier 2 Embark on a transformative journey, designed to deepen your craft and bring greater equanimity to self! Throughout this 6-week course, you'll explore character development in profound ways by practicing the integration of body, breath, movement, text analysis, and imagination. Each student will be working on a rotation of two scenes assigned by the instructor after the first week. We will delve in to a diverse array of actor training methodologies rooted in Fitzmaurice Voicework®, Organic Intelligence, Contact Improv, and the innovative Non-Dominant Approach from Crash Acting Los Angeles. Our focus will be on centering the character's humanity by removing character-dominating language from the process and introducing elements of play. The aim is to cultivate a refined practice through scene study and personalized guidance, empowering you not just within the classroom but also on set and stage! Who is Kelsey Cally? Hailing from the Mitten State, Kelsey (She/Her) spent her formative years exploring nature, fostering a sense of freedom she instills in her students. Armed with a BA in Theatre Performance and a minor in Dance, as well as an MFA in acting, her approach to teaching and acting draws from a rich tapestry of experiences. Drawing from nine years of experience as an acting teacher and coach, Kelsey has directed shows nationwide, including original works for Mudlark Youth Theatre Company. With a career spanning more than two decades in acting, she has lent her talents to esteemed studios such as The Actors Studio of Orange County, where she honed her skills in the Seven Pillars teaching style. At Crash Acting Studios LA, under the mentorship of Benjamin Mathes, she delved deeply into Crash Acting’s unique Non-Dominant Approach to acting. Additionally, Kelsey is well-versed and extensively trained in various disciplines including Fitzmaurice Voicework, Contact Improv, Organic Intelligence, Lecoq mask work, the nuanced art of clowning, alongside other forms of movement, voice, and breath work. Kelsey currently resides in Chicago with her husband and two cats, Merry and Pippin. **This session is 6 weeks, skipping class on November 19th. It will look as if it is 7 weeks.
