This four-week class explores the struggles of actors who are consistently required to bring intense emotional stakes into their TV auditions.

Emotions are surprising, and we can’t plan them. Depending on the day, a death in the family can leave us feeling nothing at all, while a rude interaction with a cashier can leave us weeping. “She Breaks Down” invites actors to examine their personal and most powerful emotional generators, and to explore a method of “breaking down” scenes for emotional beats.

Too often actors feel pressure to rise to the challenge of a highly emotional scene. This class aims to empower you to instead make the scene rise up and meet you, wherever you are, emotionally, on any given day.

Who is Maura Kidwell?  

 

A proud member of SAG-AFTRA, Maura has enjoyed working on television in the role of Stats on the USA comedy series SIRENS, in guest roles on NBC’s CHICAGO MED, CHICAGO FIRE and CHICAGO JUSTICE, Comedy Central's SOUTH SIDE, Adult Swim's JOE PERA TALKS WITH YOU, ABC’s MIND GAMES, and opposite Kelsey Grammer on BOSS on the Starz Network. She appears in a lead role in NO RESOLUTION, the debut feature film written and directed by Cursive and The Good Life front man Tim Kasher.

Maura has enjoyed many roles on stage as well at Steppenwolf, Rivendell, Theatre Wit, The Gift, and Court Theatres.
