The Pro Series: Sarah Cayce

Work with Casting Director Sarah Cayce in a compressed version of her six-week class on May 5th, 2024! Although a single day is no replacement for six weeks of training, this intensive will tackle a LOT in a fast-paced day. This intensive is open to folks of all ages because Sarah will be pushing you at your own level. All students will receive a video lecture to watch before class to share a common language, and each person will be pushed at their pace.

Prep

Before class, all students will be asked to tape an audition based on Sarah’s instructions. A video lecture series will be sent to all students to watch before class.

Morning - 10a - 1p

You’ll spend the morning getting on camera with the same material you sent in for notes. Sarah will give everyone notes and redirects in class, at their own level, based on the genre of the piece and the goals of the actor.

Lunch 1p - 2p

Enjoy Lincoln Square while Sarah creates a cold read callback workout for the afternoon.

Afternoon 2p - 6p

In the afternoon, come back to dig into a cold reading/callback scenario that puts you in the producer’s seat and the hot seat of auditioning. While one group works on their audition material, the others go through the process on the other side of the table - we’re wafting away some of the illusion of what actually happens! When the first group finishes, you swap places, so both groups have a shot at both sides of the table.

The day ends with a Q&A to wrap up with any questions left over from a very busy day of learning.

Who is Sarah Cayce?

Sarah Cayce is an award-winning director, Emmy-nominated producer, screenwriter, and casting director. Her second feature film, F*CK YOU BIG PHARMA is currently in post, but Cayce's debut feature film, HAPPILY NEVER AFTER can be seen on Lifetime Movie Network.

Sarah’s been producing since 2010 for narrative, feature-length documentaries, dozens of commercials, documentary content for Bleacher Report (which sent her to the Rio Olympics), and for select narrative projects. When Sarah isn’t teaching, directing or writing, she can be found running her casting office, Compass Casting. Having cast with filmmakers like Terrence Malick to John Wells, Cayce always keeps time for indies between commercial clients like Ford, AT&T, the NFL, and dozens more.
